Bourbon and rye with a custom second barrel
Buzzard's Roost buys aged whiskey and puts it into a second barrel of its own design. The staves season for 18 months, then get toasted and a light Char #1, the lightest common level of burn on the inside of a barrel. The company keeps 17 toast profiles and picks one per whiskey. Co-founder Jason Brauner calls it "our version of a spice rack."
Brauner and CEO Judy Hollis Jones founded the Louisville company in 2019. We carry three, and all three shipped in October 2026 to Bourbon-of-the-Month Club and Whiskey-of-the-Month Club members. Signature Double Oak is the 100-proof everyday bourbon. Cigar Blend is a 7-year bourbon at 105 proof, its barrels picked to go with a cigar. Cigar Rye is a 95% rye finished in barrels cold-smoked with Kentucky tobacco leaves.
