Buzzard's Roost Double Oak Cigar Blend Bourbon

Cigar blends are about richness of character, not actual cigars.

The "cigar" is about pairing. Buzzard's Roost takes bourbon that has already aged for years in new charred oak and moves it into its own lightly charred, heavily toasted barrels for a second stretch of aging. Toasting heats the wood slowly rather than burning it. This bottle is the October 2026 release, aged 7 years.

Co-founder and master blender Jason Brauner says he went through the company's 17 barrel profiles and chose the ones "that would complement a fine cigar, just as a great red wine complements a juicy steak."

The idea came after the Cigar Rye, which really does use tobacco (smoked into the barrels). Co-founder and CEO Judy Hollis Jones gave this one a more personal reason: "My father and grandmother loved good cigars, and this bourbon brings me happy memories with every sip."

Jones calls the new release "a bourbon built for slowing down, whether you're enjoying it with a cigar or sharing it on its own with friends around a fire." Buzzard's Roost buys its bourbon aged and doesn't name the distillery; the second barrel is its own. Try it neat first, then with a single ice cube.

Buzzard's Roost hasn't published tasting notes for the 2026 release, which it says has a new taste profile. The notes below are the brand's notes for the first Cigar Blend.

FAQ

Does Cigar Blend taste like tobacco?
It isn't made with tobacco. Buzzard's Roost picked the barrels to go with a cigar, and described the first release as having light smoke, caramel and baking spice.

How is it different from Buzzard's Roost Cigar Rye?
Cigar Rye is a straight rye finished in barrels that were cold-smoked with Kentucky tobacco leaves. Cigar Blend is a bourbon, and its second barrels are toasted, not smoked with tobacco.

Why do older reviews give a different age?
This is the October 2026 release, aged 7 years. The first Cigar Blend, released in 2025, was 6 years old, so older reviews describe a different bottle. Both are 105 proof and share a front label.
