In 1979, "Rapper's Delight" cracked the US Top 40 and introduced a lot of the country to rap. It's in the Grammy Hall of Fame and it has sold more than eight million copies. This year the group put its name on a bourbon with Dixon Dedman, and the label carries the original record artwork.
The whiskey is two bourbons. Ninety percent is a high-rye bourbon (35% rye) that Dedman re-barrels for nine to 12 months in new oak at two char levels, #3 and #4. Char number is how hard the inside of the barrel gets burned. A higher char leaves more caramelized sugar in the wood for the whiskey to pull out, and that's where the sweetness here comes from. The last 10% is a softer 18%-rye bourbon.
Dedman calls it "a brown sugar bomb with loads of weight and viscosity on the front of the palate." At 104 proof, add a few drops of water and the maple comes forward.
It's the seventh release in 2XO's Collectibles Series. If you've had the Vinyl Blend or the Sneakerhead Blend from our store, this is the next one in that line.

What does "double-barreled" mean?
The bourbon finishes aging in one barrel, then goes into a second, brand-new charred barrel for more time. The second barrel adds sweetness and color fast because the wood hasn't been used before.
Is this related to the Vinyl Blend?
Same blender, same series. Vinyl was the sixth Collectibles release and this is the seventh. They're different blends.
Is The Sugarhill Gang actually involved?
Yes. It's an official collaboration, announced by 2XO in September 2026 with quotes from the group.
